Plagiarism Policy
The Fiona Kidman Essay Competition takes plagiarism very seriously. We expect all participants to submit original work that reflects their own ideas and research.
What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism occurs when you present someone else's work or ideas as your own, whether intentionally or unintentionally. This encompasses both published and unpublished material. Plagiarism is a form of intellectual theft. It undermines the hard work of both the original creator and other contestants in the competition, giving you an unfair advantage.
How to Avoid Plagiarism
Generally almost all ideas and wording in your essay should be your own. When using ideas from other sources through paraphrasing or direct quoting, the source and the specific ideas used should be indicated unambiguously. AI writing assistance tools are strictly prohibited.
Consequences of Plagiarism
Any essay found to contain plagiarism will be immediately disqualified from the competition and the participant's school will be notified.
